Create a China province, city, or county data map

Choose one final administrative level

Province maps compare provincial-level units across China. City maps compare prefecture-level units inside one or more provinces. County maps compare districts and counties inside selected cities. Parent selections filter the candidate list but do not become data rows.

Use cascading selection without mixing levels

Country selection is fixed to China in the detailed source. At City level, select one or more provinces and then confirm the cities. At County level, choose provinces, then cities, then counties. Multi-select allows non-adjacent units, while the extent setting controls how much surrounding geography remains visible.

Prepare names that match the selected scope

Users normally do not need administrative codes. Full Chinese names produce the clearest review, while unique short forms such as 广州 or 南沙 may match within a restricted scope. Repeated short names remain ambiguous until the scope or input is clarified.

Separate data selection from map extent

Selected administrative units define which rows receive data. Map extent controls the background and camera. A city comparison can show only selected cities, their province, or all of China without adding values to the surrounding areas. Missing areas remain visually neutral.

Keep map elements and export context complete

For national or relevant regional China maps, keep the configured ten-dash line and approved boundary source. Add a truthful title, indicator unit, time period when applicable, and a clear no-data treatment. Review the final PNG, JPEG, or SVG at the size used in the presentation.
